The European Commission has made €2.5 billion available for projects aimed at modernising the transport infrastructure on the EU’s trans-European transport network (TEN-T), as well as in Ukraine and Moldova.

The selected projects will focus on creating sustainable and smart transport infrastructure, promoting interoperability and resilience within the network, and integrating various transport modes.

Additionally, they will enhance the competitiveness of the internal market for passengers and freight, aiming for higher quality of life and lower emissions.

The call also includes projects that aim to improve safety across the EU’s transport network and enhance its resilience against natural disasters.

“The massive floods that hit Europe over the last days provided a painful reminder of the need for our society to adapt to and increase its resilience to climate change,” said Wopke Hoekstra, the European commissioner for climate action.

The deadline for applications is 21 January 2025.
