Volvo Construction Equipment has partnered with attachments specialist Rototilt to manufacture excavators able to accept a Rototilt tiltrotator system.

The worldwide development agreement will see Rototilt’s control systems and sensors integrated with Volvo’s Dig Assist excavation system, which will allow the technologies to communicate.

According to Sweden-based Rototilt, the collaboration will give end-customers the opportunity to “more easily choose a Rototilt tiltrotator with all its smart functions”.

Malcolm Long, Rototilt UK general manager. “This is very positive and brings tremendous benefits to our customers with Volvo machines, as well as to Volvo dealers.”

Excavator users will now also have access to Rototilt’s fully automatic quick coupler system, QuickChange, as well as the company’s quick coupler safety system, SecureLock.

Kurt Deleu, head of excavator product management EU/INT at Volvo CE, said, “The new platform is exciting and brings the best that you can get today on the excavator market. Certain solutions, such as Smart Connect allows different brands of tiltrotator to integrate seamlessly with our machine and DigAssist, are unique and bring significant customer value.”

The technical solution was developed through a joint project in 2020. Volvo’s EC250 and EC300 excavators are the first to be equipped with the integrated system and the first equipment deliveries are already being made.

Yellowbook The Yellow Book is now available online as a fully searchable and free-to-use directory of a wide selection of construction equipment.
